CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATOR - Learn MoreDescription:
Sands Decker is seeking an experienced CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATOR to work from our Columbus or Zanesville office. The ideal person is experienced in the engineering field, and can work independently with little supervision. Sands Decker is an innovative and technology driven company; we value a candidate who is highly motivated and enjoys learning new technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:A construction administrator with Sands Decker conducts the bidding and contract process, shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, plan interpretation, site observations, site punch lists, pay application review, and other necessary tasks associated with the construction phase of a project. Administrators are an essential team member required to deliver a quality project on time and within budget. Project administrators are responsible for managing multiple projects of varying types and represent Sands Decker with clients and coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
Skills and other necessary requirements:- Minimum two years of experience in the construction industry
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Engineering Technology is not required, but recommended
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies – recommended, not required
- Experience with state and municipal construction and materials specifications
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Excel, and related applications
- Basic AutoCAD skills and/or willingness to develop skill
- Prepare bidding documents and solicit bids for construction per requirement of project
- Upon successful bidding, prepare necessary contract documents
- Facilitate pre-construction meeting with contractor, owner, and project engineer
- Review/assist in the review material submittals, shop drawings, and RFI’s
- Review/assist in the review of change order requests and make recommendations as to their validity
- Facilitate progress construction meetings between the contractor, owner, and engineer
- Review/verify contractor request for payment applications and recommend payment by owner
- Perform site visits to review contractors progress, general site conditions, and document findings to all required parties
- Review field reports for completeness, quality, and accuracy
- Maintain historical construction data to assist project managers in preparation of estimated construction costs
- Understands the need to complete work within deadlines
- Accountable and dependable
- Must hold a current valid driver’s license

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Candidate must be able to communicate well with our staff as well as clients and contractors. Position requires experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Work includes preparation of civil engineering drawings for site development including storm water drainage, sanitary sewers, waterlines, storm sewers, and supporting design information. Must have education and understanding of State of Ohio and local agency design and approval requirements.

SURVEY CAD TECHNICIAN - Learn MoreDescription:
Our Survey Department is seeking an experienced SURVEY CAD TECHNICIAN to work in our Columbus office. The talented CAD Technician can work independently with little supervision. Sands Decker is an innovative and technology driven company and has an immediate opening for an individual that is highly motivated and enjoys learning new technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Candidate must be able to communicate and work well with both office and field personnel, including clients and contractors. Work includes: preparation of field-to-finish CAD drawings and DTM surface generation within AutoCAD C3D for the development of topographic mapping, ALTA, and Boundary Surveys, R/W Plans, Survey Plats, Legal Descriptions, Construction Staking, Research and other various department tasks. The work also includes technical support and data preparation for survey crews. Uploading and downloading of data collectors is required.
Must be able to read survey and construction plans and provide accurate survey information. Experience obtaining property research from internet sources and experience obtaining utility plan information from OUPS and municipal internet sites, as well as an understanding of Ohio and local agency/authority requirements for preparation of survey documents is desirable. Proficient with MS-Office products. Field experience is also a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years’ experience as a field surveyor along with skills associated with boundary, topographic and ALTA surveys, as well as construction and utility surveys, horizontal and vertical control surveys, and roadway surveys. Position requires someone who is detail oriented and is able to think and work independently.
Skills and other necessary requirements:- Experience Requirement: 5 years of experience as a field surveyor
- Proficient with Robotic Total Stations, GPS equipment, field data collection techniques, including point code and line-work capability
- Must also be able to read construction plans and provide accurate and complete survey information
- AutoCAD experience and 3D laser scanning experience not required, but is a plus
- Must hold a current and valid driver’s license
- Work well with fellow staff, contractors, and clients in a team atmosphere

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Work includes design and preparation of civil engineering drawings associated with site development, storm water drainage and management, sanitary sewers, waterlines, wastewater treatment, and water treatment. The successful candidate will possess the experience, education, and understanding of State of Ohio and local agency design and approval requirements for Civil Engineering projects.
Skills and other necessary requirements:- Experience Requirement: 4 years preferred
- Educational Requirement: B.S. Civil Engineering preferred
- Licensing Requirement: Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio is preferred
- Skilled in design of civil engineering and site design projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- In-depth knowledge of storm water detention, treatment, and management methods
- Skilled in the use of HydroCAD to prepare accurate and detailed Storm Water Management Reports (SWMR) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWP3)
- Maintains project schedules, coordinates and reports milestones and deliverables to clients and project managers
- Prepares complete and accurate applications and technical data sheets and coordinates assembly and timely delivery of submittal packages to all applicable review agencies
- Represents the civil design team at all project meetings
- Review construction material submittals and responds to requests for information (RFI) during construction
- Provides self-monitoring of quality control/quality assurance for drawings and other documents and assists others with similar tasks as needed
- Manages and oversees all aspects of project development including the utilization of additional staff and resources as needed to provide a successful completed project
- Works well with fellow staff, contractors, and clients in a team atmosphere
- Understands the need to complete work within deadlines
- Is accountable and dependable
