The Paul R. Brown EPIC Center, on the campus of Zane State College in Appalachian southeast Ohio, is a state-of-the-art learning environment. The design for the new facility was challenged by a narrow, gentle inclined site that sits between a hillside and a busy state route highway. The new facility took full advantage of the conditions by being situated at the crest of the incline, thus increasing the building’s exposure and visibility.
EPIC Center Unique Features Include:
- Wind Turbine Court
- Pedestrian Bridge that connects the EPIC Center to the college classrooms/laboratories
Sands Decker was instrumental in civil engineering and surveying of the 40,000 square foot classroom and laboratory building due to the hillside setting and former strip mine land. Read more about school designs in the Architectural Portfolio.
